XATIVA's 'Fly Away' EP is about "coming to terms with losing someone that you love"
After putting out her tender love ballad ‘Fall Back To You’ last month, Swedish-Ecuadorian musician XATIVA returns with her brand new EP ‘Fly Away’ in full.
The 4-track project sees XATIVA draw from her Latin roots and classical background, alongside interwoven influences of London jazz, electronic, folk and R&B.
Shortly after dropping her latest body of work, the London-based talent doubled-down with a vibrant music video for the EP’s third single ‘Here With Me’. Directed by animation artist Cecilia Reeve, the video depicts XATIVA inside a house, watching time pass and filled with a sense of loneliness. After dark, she finds comfort in the beauty of nature and embraces the sun, moon and stars. You can watch the music video below.
Recorded at Soup Studios in London with Alfa Mist and Moses Boyd collaborator Giles Barrett, ‘Fly Away’ tells XATIVA’s confusing and seemingly contradictory experiences of love, loss and isolation.
Speaking about the new EP, XATIVA says: “At its core, ‘Fly Away’ is about coming to terms with losing someone that you love. It’s about the different paths you might take and the complexities of emotions you might experience before accepting that loss.”
