Floating Points has made an album with Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra

The album marks Pharoah Sanders' first in a decade

Spiritual jazz legend Pharoah Sanders has joined forces with Floating Points and the London Symphony Orchestra for a new album, titled ‘Promises’.

Arriving March 26th via Luaka Bop, the nine-part work has been recorded with the LSO, and is the first new music from the 80-year-old jazz saxophonist in more than a decade.

The album’s artwork has been produced by contemporary visual artist Julie Mehretu, and the LP comes in a gatefold jacket with die cut shapes that show through to Mehretu’s painting.

There’s a teaser for the record featuring Sanders and Floating Points, which you can watch below.

The announcement arrived with a conversation between Floating Points and Sanders – read it here.

In a tweet, Four Tet described it as “the best album that’s coming out this year”.
