Music and Troy Davis

Some clips of music relating to the case of Troy Davis, a contested murder convict executed by the state of Georgia last night.

Though it is far from Dummy’s place as a music magazine to comment on the much-contested case of death row inmate Troy Davis, this piece, published by NPR, may be of interest to anyone following the story. The post details the response of musicians to the Davis case, and has some very interesting points to make about the confluence of protest, music and narrative.

Troy was executed last night by the state of Georgia over the murder of an off-duty police officer in 1989, despite serious doubts over his guilt.
