Premiere: Ellen Allien’s ‘Trigger’ video makes 2018 look like old rave footage

“It makes me want to teleport right back to this moment!”

Berlin techno luminary Ellen Allien has just revealed the new video for her ‘Trigger’, the lead track from her first solo EP outside her BPitch Control imprint.

The Crystalmafia-directed video was filmed at Melt Festival, where Allien has helmed the Sleepless Floor stage on Sunday night/Monday morning since the event’s inaugural year in ’97, and is one of their only original artists to still be playing for them now.

Despite being shot this year while Allien took to the decks for her eight-hour set, it’s got the aesthetic of old rave footage in a mind-boggling blending of eras that gives the track a timeless feel.

Of the video, Allien says: “I’ve been playing at Melt Festival since 1997. The Sleepless Floor is where everyone comes for the final dance of the weekend and it’s an honour and an annual highlight to be able to close this stage every year. Kieran Behan aka Crystalmafia is a long standing friend of mine and one of my favourite creatives. I have been lucky enough to work with her over the past year. She captures the magic of this stage so perfectly that I had to use it as a video for this EP. It makes me want to teleport right back to this moment!”

The ‘Take A Stand’ EP is out now on Nonplus Records.
