Read Lou Reed's review of 'Yeezus'
‘Yeezus’ has had a little while to settle in now and the flurry of critical activity has started to die down, but that hasn’t stopped one musician putting his two cents in: Lou Reed.
The 71-year old avant-garde rocker has written a wonderful take on the record for The Talkhouse, a website dedicated to reviews by other working musicians. The italics-heavy review could hardly be called concise, but it’s great to read someone with such passion for the material offering their take on it.
“There are moments of supreme beauty and greatness on this record, and then some of it is the same old shit. But the guy really, really, really is talented. He’s really trying to raise the bar. No one’s near doing what he’s doing, it’s not even on the same planet.”
Head over to The Talkhouse to read the full review. Dummy’s own take on ‘Yeezus’ was a little more straightforward, but we’d recommend it just as highly.
Lou Reed was in the headlines earlier today for somewhat less jovial reasons: he was in the hospital, just a month after receiving an emergency liver transplant. As Rolling Stone report, though, he was released following the treatment earlier today.
