Secretsundaze launches month-long fundraiser to survive pandemic
Secretsundaze has been putting on dance events in East London for nearly 20 years. In this time the establishment has branched out into becoming a record label and a music studio space giving affordable access to local talent.
Known for its community ethos, Secretsundaze is now asking for help to survive the impact of the coronavirus pandemic which has caused them to lose out on 90% of their usual income due to the halting of live events.
Last month they were also forced to vacate their studio space, their last modest revenue stream during the crisis, to make way for another East London property development.
The Save Secretsundaze campaign is a month-long fundraiser aiming to raise £50,000. Funds raised through the campaign will go towards securing a new studio, where they’ll create a learning centre that will allow them to formally train and mentor young people wishing to learn how to make and play electronic music.
As well as this, the money will help the company to retain jobs as they continue to operate the business in an environmentally sustainable way while providing people with opportunities that for some, might be hard to come by.
The Crowdfunder page gives people the option to donate amounts varying from £10 up to £1,500, with increased rewards for higher donations.
