Two previously unheard Aphex Twin tracks released via anonymous SoundCloud profile
Two previously unheard Aphex Twin tracks have been released on SoundCloud under the moniker 'user18081971', an anonymous account widely thought to belong to the elusive producer Richard David James.
The new tracks - ‘Short Forgotten Produk Trk Omc’ and ‘2nd Neotek Test Trac Omc’ - were both produced 17-18 years ago, with the description of both songs reading: “as promised to people that pm'd me. made approx 2006-07,” tagged with his signature hashtag: “afx”.
user18081971's account has been linked with Aphex Twin for a number of years now. Since being created in 2015, the account has released numerous never-before-heard tracks over the course of 8 years.
Last month, the producer and DJ announced his first new music in five years. The four-track project, titled ‘Blackbox Life Recorder 21f / in a room7 F760’, released last Friday (July 28).
Arriving shortly before Aphex Twin is due to headline London's Field Day festival and Lisbon's Kalorama festival, it's likely he will debut some of the new material in a live setting later this month.
