Daniel Caesar launches his own chess league
Daniel Caesar has launched his own chess league after the game helped him to "combat the darkness" during lockdown.
Last week (April 20), the Canadian singer-songwriter took to Instagram to announce that he has created an online chess league through Chess.com. Caesar explained that as a child, he had learned how to play chess from his father.
"My father taught me chess when I was a boy, and when quarantine came around it became the only thing that could help me combat the darkness," he wrote on Instagram. "Fast forward a few years later and I have my own chess.com league.. Full circle.. I wish i could explain with words how much this means to me but since I cant just meet me on the board."
The competition launched on Friday and fans can enter to have the chance of playing Daniel 1-on-1.
In the run up to Caesar's new album 'Never Enough', which came out earlier this month, fans were also given the opportunity to play a chess puzzle to reveal content from the album. Try out the feature here.
