1. Headache - 'Mission Impossible III'
Vegyn and his PLZ Make Me Ruins label keep us guessing with this strange yet wonderful new EP blending indie-pop breaks, waking dream-pop and droll narration. No one's really sure who Headache is but the credits for 'The Head Hurts But The Heart Knows The Truth' mentions somebody called Francis Hornby Clark. Whether Francis' voice is the result of some text-to-voice AI programme, or an actual character, the project is a fascinating listen from start to finish. Bleak, dystopian but also subtlety beautiful, Headache poetically navigates the muddled mess of life and love. Perfect for raving or commuting or staring into the void, we've found ourselves revisiting this mysterious album over and over again.
2. Kai Campos (Mount Kimbie) - 'Zone 3 (City Limits) Beatrrice Dillon Remix'
Kai Campos from Mount Kimbie recently put out two remixes of tracks taken from City Planning, Campos’ side of the 2022 double album MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning. Dillon’s remix of 'Zone 3 (City Limits)' adds subtle shades of corrosion to the fluttering arpeggiated textures of the original track - it's a tasteful rework that adds Dillon’s sense of playfulness to Campos’ composition.
3. Joe Armon Jones & Maxwell Owin - 'Lost In The Function'
Last week, prolific London duo Joe Armon-Jones and Maxwell Owin ) shared 'Lost In The Function', the final single lifted from their forthcoming album 'Archetype' out this Friday (June 9). The single drops ahead of their anticipated fabric show – also on release day – where the pair will takeover FABRICLIVE with a live band show and performance of the project. The track itself is an icy dub-infused dance floor banger, mining the darker, Burial-esque edges of Owin's production to create something truly special.
