Hudson Mohawke and Wimbledon team up to create the official soundtrack for 2023 tournament
Hudson Mohawke just released the official soundtrack for the 2023 Wimbledon tournament.
Titled 'Pushing On (Always Like Never Before)', the Glasgow-born producer's new offering features in the tennis tournament's official trailer which celebrates the sport's "golden era" heroes such as Serena Williams, Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal, as well as the modern stars who will be appearing on the court this year.
Hud Mo said the opportunity work with and be a part of this year's Wimbledon trailer "feels surreal," adding "I've been watching Wimbledon on TV since I was a young boy."
"We’re seeing a new wave of legends define history in the tennis world, and I wanted to make a soundtrack that reflected this juncture and the tantalising mood that comes with it – it’s something that’s hard to put your finger on but you can just feel it in your chest."
The track itself features vocals from GiGi Grombacher and can be heard playing over archive footage and iconic photos from past tournaments.
He adds: "I’ve used terms such as ‘fearless’, ‘strong’, ‘stand my ground’ and ‘holding on’ in the vocals, to echo the nature of competitive sport and just how hungry this next generation of stars is for success.”
The trailer is set to be shown on TV ahead of tournament, which starts with qualifying rounds on June 26 and moves on to the main event on July 4.
Hudson Mohawke recently teamed up with Nikki Nair for their joint EP titled 'Set The Roof'. A three track version of the project is currently available on streaming services with a six track USB set for release on July 7.
