An "inspiring" new Arcadia structure is in the works
Arcadia co-founder Bertie Cole has teased that a new Arcadia structure is in the works, however, he's remaining tight-lipped on the specifics.
While discussing Arcadia's brand new biofuelled arena, continuing the company's long-standing sustainability efforts, Cole told DJ Mag that something exciting was going on behind the scenes.
“At some point, we’ll be making something new, and that will be another really inspiring piece that’s got a whole new life of its own. But I’m pretty heavily embargoed on that one at the moment!”, Cole said.
Arcadia was founded by creative engineers Bert Cole and Pip Rush, both inspired by nature and driven to unite people for positive change. Incubated at Glastonbury Festival, Arcadia draws on talent from across the arts, theatre and circus disciplines, supporting cultural celebrations and iconic music festivals around the globe.
“We’re always keen and open to bring in new technology, new people, new ideas into the mixture. We don’t feel like [Arcadia] is our thing that we own, in that sense, it’s more of a platform for people to come and do pioneering things and entertain people with that," he added. "So yeah, it’s all quite exciting really. A lot of Arcadia’s stuff is a real dance between what’s technically possible and what’s creatively interesting, and I think those two things really need each other.”
Arcadia are also offering an aspiring DJ the chance to perform on their Afterburner stage at this year’s Valley Fest.
To get involved in the competition, entries will need to submit a mix (via Soundcloud or Mixcloud) of no longer than 40 minutes, along with a track list.
They will be judged on both “ability to mix” and “choice of tunes to create the mood”. The winning DJ's set will take place in the early-evening, so the judges of the competition have stressed that it “isn’t about playing bangers, it’s a warm-the-weekend up slot.”
