Kat Duma shares hypnotic debut album 'Real Life'
Today, Toronto-based dream pop artist Kat Duma releases her highly-anticipated debut album 'Real Life'.
After teasing the project with the title track 'Real Life' back in February, followed by 'Fated' the following month, Duma expands on her ability to produce work that wrestles with the balance between the material world and the spectral.
The 8 tracks on 'Real Life' are steeped in contradictions: the body and the planet; nature vs supernature; heaven and love. In this sense, the album's title is more of a question: what is real life? What’s outside of it? It could be said that these are love songs to life itself.
Quickly making a name for herself as singular talent bound by no genre boundaries or expectations, the rising experimental pop artist has produced the type of project that some artists spend their whole careers trying to make. Luckily for Kat, she's only just getting started.
